This unit was form fit and function compatible with the actual C5 ADI that was used in the simulators, except the ball was drawn in opengl on a TFT LCD using a PC104 stack in the ADI. AITI designed the case and frame. All the other flags and indicators were mechanical, and the rear connectors read the pitch and roll synchro inputs from the host computer with a synchro to digital PC104 board. The users at the training site called it the Hybrid ADI to distinguish it from the actual ADI.
